What we do, what we don’t do, and what working together actually looks like. If your question isn’t here, ask us on a call.
Avanza helps growing service businesses keep their finances organized, understand how the business is performing, and make better financial decisions.
Avanza sits between traditional accounting and a fractional CFO. We can manage or oversee your accounting, but our role goes further: helping you understand performance, track goals, answer financial questions, and make better business decisions. We call that financial management.
We offer ongoing financial management, bookkeeping and accounting, financial analysis for important business decisions, and one-time financial setup or improvement projects.
Financial management can include accounting oversight, reporting, dashboards, goal tracking, regular financial reviews, ongoing questions, and help understanding what your numbers mean for the business.
We keep your books accurate and up to date, reconcile your accounts, maintain your financial records, and provide regular financial reports. The exact scope and reporting frequency depend on your plan.
We do not currently prepare or file tax returns. We keep your financial records ready for tax time and can coordinate with your CPA or tax professional.
We can help you understand how much you can afford to borrow, prepare the financial information a lender will ask for, and compare the options in front of you. We are not a lender ourselves, so the decision and the terms stay yours.
None. You do not need to understand accounting or financial statements. Part of our job is explaining the numbers in plain language.
We help you understand your options, tradeoffs, and financial impact. We do not make business decisions for you, but we give you the visibility, tools, and guidance to make them confidently.
Yes. We can work alongside your existing bookkeeper or accounting team and focus on reporting, analysis, financial questions, and decision support.
Yes, and we pay a referral fee when someone you send becomes a client. The amount depends on the kind of engagement they start — ask us and we’ll tell you what it is.
You’ll work directly with Joaquin. As Avanza grows, other team members may support parts of the work, but you’ll always know who is responsible for your account.
Usually not much. Once onboarding is complete, most clients spend their time reviewing results, answering occasional questions, and meeting with us according to their plan.
No long-term contract is required unless specifically stated in your proposal. Ongoing services are designed to continue as long as they are useful to your business.
Your service can change with it. We review scope and pricing as your business becomes more complex, adds systems, entities, employees, locations, or financial needs.
Keep us informed about what is happening in the business, ask questions early, and share upcoming decisions or goals with us. The more context we have, the more useful your numbers become.
We start by understanding your business, reviewing your current financial setup, connecting the systems we need, and identifying anything that needs to be cleaned up before regular service begins.
Most straightforward businesses can be onboarded within a few weeks. More complicated books, cleanup work, or multiple systems may take longer.
Usually your accounting access, bank and credit card accounts, payroll information, relevant business software, prior financial reports, and basic information about how your business operates.
That’s okay. We’ll review what needs to be fixed and let you know whether cleanup work is required before ongoing service begins. Any additional cleanup cost will be agreed on upfront.
No. We work in QuickBooks. If you do not already have accounting software, we can help you choose and set it up as part of getting started.
We’ll need access to your financial systems and some time to answer questions about transactions, accounts, payroll, and how your business works. We handle the accounting setup and organization from there.
It depends on your plan. Some businesses only need a monthly close, while others may need more frequent reporting or bookkeeping, including weekly updates.
You don’t need to. Just tell us in plain language what the transaction was for and we’ll put it in the right place.
We price the agreed scope upfront so you know what you will pay. If the complexity or workload of your business changes, we may review pricing quarterly and will always let you know before making a change.
Book fifteen minutes and ask it directly. We’ll tell you whether we’re the right fit — and if we’re not, who is.
